BAPTISM

It is the first Sacrament of Christian of the Christian Initiation. By the virtue of Baptism, a person becomes a child of God and of the Church.

What do you need for the sacrament of baptism?

TO REGISTER:

  • Parents and godparents must be registered members of a catholic parish for at least three months.

  • At least one of the parents must fill an application in the parish office. They have to bring a copy of the child's birth certificate. No one giving the class will officially be able to register the parents or godparents.

  • All monetary baptismal fees will be handled only in the office by our secretaries, such as: $25/ first child, $40/ for two children, $60/ for three children or more of the same family.  

  • Godparents must be adults (18 years and over). They must have received the sacrament of Confirmation and give a good example of Christian living. They must be Catholic. If the godparents are already living as a couple, they must be married in the Catholic Church (though not necessarily with each other). They could also be single, one or both of them.

NOTE: Parish Office will not accept incomplete registrations. To process your application, you must complete the above four points.

The DAY OF THE BAPTISM:

  • Baptisms are celebrated on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, at 12:30 pm in the Church. Punctuality is requested at the appointed time. Baptism dates and times may be changed due to religious days, national holidays, or parish events.

DAYS OF THE TALKS:

  • The pre-baptismal classes are given at 6:30 pm, in the basement of the Rectory. Parents and godparents should attend only one talk. Classes will be only twice a month: first and third Thursday of each month. After the class is over, parents and godparents will be given an attendance card for the class, which will last for one year.

MEMBERS OF OTHER PARISHES

  • If the parents or godparents belong to another parish, they have to bring a certificate from their parish, giving them permission to be baptized here.

  • If the parents or godparents are here to take the class only, and baptism is to take place somewhere else, they will need a document as proof of good standing from us, which will usually mean that they are registered members within our church, this document can only be given out by the secretary in our office.

    CHILDREN OVER 7 YEARS

  • If the child is over 7 years, he or she will have to be enrolled in CCD classes with the RCIA program adapted for children of catechetical age. He or she will need to receive catechetical instructions for at least two years and if necessary, even more until the candidate is ready. The candidate will receive all the three Sacraments of Initiaion (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion) at the the Easter Vigil.

    Children of the Divorced

    If the parents are divorced, separated or do not live together, a notarized authorization from one of the spouses is required to baptize the son / daughter. If anyone has legal custody, they should bring a copy to the parish.

BAUTISMO

Es el primer Sacramento de Cristiano de la Iniciación Cristiana. En virtud del Bautismo, una persona se convierte en hijo de Dios y de la Iglesia.

Requisitos para el Sacramento del Bautismo:

PARA REGISTRAR:

  • Padres y padrinos deben estar inscritos en una parroquia católica por lo meno tres(3) meses. 

  • Al menos uno de los padres deben llenar el formulario de registración en la Oficina Parroquial y traer el certificado de nacimiento del niño. Ninguna persona que dé las charlas puede registrar a padres o padrinos.                 

  • Los cargos monetarios para bautizos serán entregados sólo en la oficina a las secretarias. Son los siguientes: $25/ un niño, $40/ dos niños y $60/ por 3 niños o más de la misma familia.                  

  • Los padrinos deben ser mayores: de 18 años y más, haber recibido el Sacramento de la Confirmación, y ddeben ser Católicos. Si los padrinos son pareja, tienen que estar casados por la Iglesia católica (No necesariamente entre ellos). También pueden ser solteros uno de ellos o los dos.                            

NOTA: La oficina no aceptará registraciones incompletas. Para procesar su aplicación, deben completar los cuatro puntos anteriores.                                

DIAS DE BAUTIZO

  • Los bautismos se celebran los segundos y cuartos sábados del mes, a las 12:30 pm en la Iglesia. Se les pide puntualidad a la hora señalada. Las fechas y horas de bautizos pueden ser cambiadas debido a días religiosos, feriados nacionales o eventos parroquiales.

DIAS DE LAS CHARLAS

  • Las clases pre-bautismales se dan a las 6:30 pm, en el sótano de la Rectoría. Padres y padrinos deben asistir solo a una charla. Las clases serán solamente dos veces al mes: primer y tercer jueves de cada mes. Después de terminada la clase, se les dará a los padres y padrinos una tarjeta de asistencia a la misma, esta tendrá una duración de un año.                                          

MIEMBROS DE OTRAS PARROQUIAS

  • Los padres y padrinos miembros de otra parroquia, deberán presentar un certificado de aquella parroquia donde conste que son miembros y dándoles permiso para bautizar en nuestra parroquia  

  • Si va a bautizar en otra parroquia, estado o país: Los padres o padrinos deben registrarse sólo en la oficina parroquial. Para poder tomar la clase pre-bautismal,  necesitarán traernos un documento de prueba de que son católicos practicantes. Al final de la clase se les dará una constancia de que han asistido a las clases. Este documento puede ser entregado también a nuestra oficina. Este certificado tiene una duración de 1 año.

NIÑOS MAYORES DE 7 AÑOS

Si el niño es mayor de 7 años, debe ser registrado en clases de catecismo en el programa de RICA adaptado para los niños de edad catequética. El o ella necesitará recibir instrucciones de catecismo por lo menos dos años, y si es necesario, aun más hasta que el candidato ya esté listo. El candidato recibirá a los tres sacramentos de Iniciación (Bautismo, Confirmación y Primera Comunión) en la celebración de la Vigilia Pascual.

Ninos de los divorciados

Si los padres están divorciados, separados o no viven juntos, se requiere una autorización notarizada de uno de los cónyuges para bautizar al hijo/hija. Si alguno tiene la custodia legal, debe traer copia a la parroquia.
